Monday again....
Time goes by so fast.Let’s hope this week will be better than the last: apart from eating birthday cakes on Monday, Tuesday and Friday (it’s Revenge of the Pisces at work these days), I officially turned a year older but was treated to a nice restaurant in the evening.
How do you know you’re getting old? When your dentist is younger than you…no kidding!
Then I received on Wednesday a letter saying that I wasn’t shortlisted for an interview for THE job I was sure I would get, I was saying to myself when I applied “if I don’t get an interview for that one, I’ll go crazy!”. So there you go….
Then I had my Chinese class on Wednesday, and it’s getting really difficult now. All the words sound the same, I’m getting confused. Wanted a challenge? well I guess I’m having it big time, 谢谢.
By the end of the week, I was The Saviour at work again, training new staff, from CS reps to the distribution manager, helping the accounts department on invoicing for the UK because the UK people didn’t have a clue, the lets-ask-Sandrine-she’ll-know thing.
Just a quick reminder though: I was overlooked for promotion 4 months ago. I feel painfully taken for granted in Botoxland.
Then, another visit to the dentist on Friday afternoon, and a treatment plan that will cost me a lot of money. Of course, neither PRSI (for which I’m tax-deducted on every payroll) nor my private insurance (for which I pay as well) will cover it. So my iPod will have to wait (again).
Well, to forget about that week and the dentist bill awaiting me, I needed some retail therapy (don’t try and find a logic), splashed some cash in Dundrum and walked around for about 3 hours to find trousers that actually fit my curvy Continental ass and that were not 100 euros.
A musical on Saturday night with Aoife (Zeussical, the Cat in the Hat stuff, instant feel-good show) in the Ruppert Guinness Theatre cheered me up again, and we finished the night in a quiet, old-fashioned, slightly-dodgy local, drinking Vodka and Coke. To finish the week off nicely, Tom and I went to Dun Laoghaire on Sunday and had good-ol’ Irish food in a nice pub while watching France kick some English asses on a rugby pitch.
CONCLUSION: I’m enjoying my week-ends a lot more than my weeks.

Portes-toi bien !
(Bises à l'autre affreux !)
Joyeux anniv, alors !
