Who fears the Polish plumber?
Despite the Polish being the biggest foreign community in Ireland, it seems that soon we will be immigrating to Poland ourselves.More and more companies settled in Ireland are moving to Eastern Europe, especially Poland, where they can find highly educated, multilingual staff that they can pay peanuts (until of course, 15 years on, the inflation will have taken its toll and they'll be moving somewhere else cheaper).
A couple of weeks ago, Google announced they were opening a new operation centre in Wroclaw, i.e. the exact same centre as the one in Dublin. A Polish girl I work with is starting a new job for an Irish company opening 4 new offices in Poland. Many more stories everyday.
Oh, I'll just go somewhere else then. This is what our generation is doomed to do to ensure we can earn a living - settling down is luxury.
